Hilliard resident, Doug Miller is planning on doing just that. Friday July 25 NASCAR’s ARCA series will be featured in Indianapolis on FS1 and Doug will be in the field continuing a lifelong passion that goes back generations.

Raised in Satsuma Florida, Doug was never far from Putnam county speedway. Growing up in a racing family, the attraction was as natural as breathing. An impressive pedigree, Doug’s grandfather raced the iconic beaches of Daytona in 50s. Soon working on cars and hanging around the pits wasn’t enough. At just 13 years old, the future ARCA driver knew what he wanted to do, drive. And he impressed the local racers enough that they soon made him apart of the team. After some impressive laps and paying his dues with grease, oil, and sweat he would finally get his own ride at the age of eighteen.

The number #44 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. Like all racers he’s had his share of scary rides, once in an accident so bad it cracked his helmet injuring his back and leaving him with a severe concussion that would cause him to put his dreams on hold for a year. However, with the support of those around him, especially his mother, Doug would embark on a ride that would take him all over the country. Always returning to his roots back home in Florida, with his doting mother occasionally turning wrenches for him and lending her support in any way possible. Now the father of three still has big goals and a clear path to the mecca of Florida racing, Daytona.

Working on other peoples vehicles as diesel mechanic during the week so he can race on the weekends, Doug has been driving with Clubb Racing out of Illinois as of late. Indy is just one step in the ultimate goal of racing Daytona and carrying on a family tradition. With the help of his daughters and loving family and the support of Nassau county Doug Miller looks to go from local guy to legend and we will all have a front row seat come July 25.
